Adventurer's Index, France, Galleries The People of Provence: A Gallery Posted on May 6, 2014March 7, 2018Author Slowlanefrance Patient, friendly, engaged and playful. These are but a few of the adjectives that describe the people of Provence. They’re an independent bunch, not shy about offering an opinion. And they have warmth. People like Karine, right, from whom we’ve bought our cooked chickens and large eggs the last four months. People like Laurent and his wife Anne-Marie, left, from whom we buy our cheese, sausage and ham. In the market, they bide their time waiting for customers, like this couple at the used book fair. this artist at the Cours Mirabeau art show, this woman selling her wares on the street during the Big Market Saturday. They relish the sunshine and song — these two sang to each other on market day. They’re conscious of fashion and how they look. And then there are the kids, curious, like kids everywhere for what comes next or what’s in the pond.
